Daniel Blevins

Pittsylvania County, Virginia was formed in 1767 from Halifax County. In 1777 the western part became Henry County.

Daniel Blevins was born about 1710. His father was William Blevins.

Daniel married Sarah Sutton. Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin Sutton and Sarah (Bush) Kibbe.

Daniel and Sarah's children probably included:

William Blevins (1742, married Mary),
Dillon Blevins (1750, married Ann Armstrong),
James Blevins (1751, married Margaret Hardin),
John Blevins (1755, married Agatha),
Jonathan Blevins (1763),
Richard Blevins (1763, married Hannah Ausborn), and
Lucinda Blevins (1765).

Before 1740, he went on long hunting expeditions to Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky with his father and brothers.

In 1767 John Blevins (son of Daniel), John Blevins, Sr., Dillon, and James Jr. appeared on the tax list in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

On October 7, 1777 in Henry County, Virginia.

I do swear or affirm, I do renounce and refuse all allegiance to George III, King of Great Britain, his heirs and successor....Signed by James Blevins Jr., William Blevins Jr., William Blevins Sr., Samuel Blevins, Williby Blevins, John Blevins, and Dillon Blevins

Daniel died about 1790 in Buncombe County, North Carolina.

George III ruled Great Britain from October 25, 1760 to January 29, 1820.
